A worn-out memoryA Poem by Enigma
A restless sigh, Lingering in the air and in my thoughts, Floating among the fragments, Of a worn out memory. I create you, step by step, in my mind; A hand holding mine, Captive, like my heart is, Limp and warm, they lie in a timeless embrace; Like us. Huddled against the cold outside, Caught up in a brown velvet trap of cloth, Gazing aimlessly ahead, Scattering the precious moments in thin air. We breathe. We dream. We love. And in one silent
point of time, Hidden somewhere in its intricate tapestry, Frozen and faded, I remember a lifetime spent with you.
It is, but, a worn out memory, Losing itself in the surging tides of time. But I discover us, In the tiny droplets that remain, And I dwell upon these collected bits of thought; Recreating the face I know so well.
Soften your edges, Time, Cease being so ruthless in your walk, Spare a few gems of the past. If all must end that has been well, Then let this memory last a bit longer; Let me travel back to that perfect moment one more time, And relive this dying memory. Before you wipe my consciousness clean, Let me remember it all again... © 2012 EnigmaAuthor's Note
