Betrayal

Your assurances found their way to the graves

I guess, I was never immune to this disease

Love indeed is an ailing heart

Existing in a delusion of a pain that feels good

I guess I would have to tear my self-respect in pieces

And shower them on your glorious presence in my life

The economy of ‘us’ with unequal shares in affection

Endless seeking of perfection befitting your soul mate

Countless rebellions against whoever stood in ‘our’ way

You were my ideal salvation

Your arms were the sanctuary I craved for

Crawled forward dressed in the tattered dignity of mine

How did you hide your flaws?

Or did you just move on to something

Or someone better?

You will be forgiven and you know that well

If I will survive this heartache, I simply cannot tell

Insecurity, you finally found me

And now that you feed on my mind

Please grant me another glimpse

One last, this time.

"Your assurances found their way to the graves

Deep assurances of what's meant to happen. The way you start off this poem catches the reader's attention with what you have to say. Insecurity is a terrible feeling to have when bad things happen especially when one falls into the beliefs of protection and reassurance. A great piece.

This touches upon something I think basically most people can relate to. This was wonderful to read and experience.
