The Memory of a Presence

The Memory of a Presence

A Poem by Enigma
"

For a special someone.

"

The memory of a presence

Refuses to let go of my mind

The scent of your love

Lingers and intoxicates

The tingle of your touch

Sends the same shivers down my spine

Cuddled in a world of your outstretched arms

These dreams pull me far, so far away

 The memory of your presence

Feeds on my impulses

Ignites the fire of passion

And rouses the storms

Of anxious paranoia

And then, like a gust of cool breeze

In a sweltering summer heat

Your voice travels

Straight to my heart

Once again, I am at peace

Waiting till the rushing memories of our past

Get hold of me again

I'm not sure if the picture fits well with the thought, but as soon as I laid my eyes on it, I liked it instantly and just HAD to use it here.

I hope you liked it. I did not think too much on the structure or the word-play this time, just penned it all down as it popped in my head.

I wonder if you felt the same "longing" as the body language of the cat seems to portray? I remember a few words inside that arose upon becoming aware of a tag line...

Where does reality fit
in the schema of today
when even my yesterday's ambitions
have faded into tastes of you?

I think the pic fits well because of the expression on the cat's face. That look, mirrors the sentiment of the poem, which is very good by the way. It flowed good in spots and rough in others, but, the effort was an A+. Nice piece of work here.

I am often trapped in this alternate realm of recollection. A prisoner to longing, a captive to the remaining particles of a presence once intertwined so closely with my own. Your poetry resonates so well in my being, on a intellectual level, on a emotional level, and on a spirit level. You write with honesty and clarity.

A very strong poem. The gentle emotions and statements create a vision of questions and memories.

We all desire to rebirth old emotion and feelings. I believe we must create new one's and swim in the pleasure of a new day and moments. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

The picture of the cat is adorable. It seems to be waiting patiently for whoever it is.

The poem holds a mystery behind it. I don't know...maybe its the sweet flow you put into this, longing for that other person. Memories can also put someone at ease. Passionate and patient. Nice work.

If you read this a certain way, the picture does seem to fit. This could be from the mind of this cat awaiting the return and love of his owner. This could be taken in a lot of different ways. Lovely write! Nicely done.
