How I shall colour todayA Poem by Enigma
When the morning breeze feels its way through my skin When the drizzle gently tickles my weary face When the songs of the birds reverberate Resonant with the uplifting shrill notes When the warm bed engulfs and refuses to let me go When I kiss the tastes, sweet and sour When I touch a flower about to bloom When I feel the softness of the silk cocoon When I feel the goose bumps taking shape When I spasm and blink and get stiff again When I laugh till it hurts my cheeks When I remember the past and silently weep I know it is yet another blank page coloured With different hues, edges sharp and blurred In the book of life I rightfully own And as every page is turned over A blank one faces the morning light I feel the crushing responsibility To paint it the brightest way possible To succeed is a miracle To fail is an effort gone wrong And yet, I am left with the book Full of victories and experience No sorrow No regrets
