Go GosspisA Poem by EnigmaSomething interesting...^_^"I'm so wierd!", Annie told herself while she rummaged through her wardrobe looking for her school uniform. Her mother was shouting from the kitchen downstairs, telling her to hurry up. "Oh! Shut Up!", words escaped her lips and a second later, she asked the God to forgive her. And as though she'd been forgiven, her hunt for her uniform finally ended as she found them tucked away on the top shelf. "You're on your own, young lady!", that's how her mother greeted her every morning. "I'll not be waking you up tomorrow. Then let me see how you get to school, left alone on time." With that she pushed the tiffin box towards her and made her exit. She picked up the tiffin feeling the warmth soothe her palms and silently whispered, "Bye mom." Feeling sad, she left the kitchen and raced down to the porch where the bus was honking continuously. *********** "So, what happened today?", her best friend Sophie asked her. "Nothing. Just the usual matter. You say, what's going on?" she tried to sound cheerful but in vain. "Don't worry. Everything is gonna be fine. After all, you've got the greatest girl that has ever inhabited this earth, as your best friend." she replied. By now, Annie was smiling. "Oh! How come you know that I'm my best friend!" and she started laughing loudly. Sophie would have arugued but she noticed that her friend needed all the laughs she can that morning. ********** Annie was lost in her thoughts, sitting all alone at her seat and waiting for Sophie to return. She was getting bored so she took out her novel titled 'Five Point Someone' from her bag and spent a few minutes lost in the world created by that best-sellar. She had already read it more than 5 times but still couldn't resist the charm and excitement she felt everything she completed a chapter. "Hi Annie!", somebody said. For once, it felt one of the greatest voices of all. She raised her head from the book looking all confused. After all, she was dragged back into her boring class-room. Sitting right next to her was a boy with a cute smile on his face and his gaze fixed on her. For once, she felt hypnotized by the twinkle in his eyes that was so hard to ignore. But she managed to reply with a smile and decided to get on with a conversation with him. "Where have you been, Joe? I didn't see you in the past week?", she asked him. "Oh! So you noticed. Thanks a lot!" and he started laughing. Annie gave an irritated smile and replied, "Why don't you answer in a simpler way for a change?" The following 15 minutes flew by in a wink. She never realised how interesting the chat became and really cursed out loud when the teacher enterd the class-room. Thanks to the crowd infront of her, the teacher didn't recognise her voice and decided to carry on with the teaching which she had just begun. At home, she felt so light after such a long time. As soon as she had changed into her casuals, her cell phone rang. "Hope I'm not disturbing." A sweet voice said. "No! Not at all!", Annie couldn't control her happiness. For once she felt so strange that she stopped in front of the mirror and pinched herself just to make sure that she wasn't dreaming. Needless to say, it was Joe and his chats that took up the next half-an hour on her day. But it was the best half an hour she'd spent in weeks. A surprising mood uplift was noticed by Sophie when they met again at the tutions. "What happened? You looked so gloomy this very morning and now you're on top of the world! Struck gold or what?" She asked her with wide eyes and open mouth. "Oh! I don't know!" she smiled and laughed out the words, gave her and awk-ward hug sat down on her seat. For a few minutes, Sophie didn't move. For Sophie was taken aback by her friend's attiutude. Annie has always been a sad girl who'd cry for petty reasons. And Sophie felt that it was her duty to console her dear friend. But at the same time she felt irritated because while she was busy consoling Annie, Annie rarely did the same for her. She had her insecurities as well which she wanted to share, her ideas, thoughts and feelings. But Annie rarely gave in. But today, Annie had turned into a new leaf. Sophie almost broke down to happy tears for one reason. That awkward hug from Annie was more than just a hug. She felt like it has connected her to life again. Just a few hours before she had cried out and prayed that she need someone to hold her and it seemed that God had heard her prayers. The whole day went pretty quickly but it did leave some very sweet moments behind with all three of them. For Annie, she just found a great goofy friend in Joe, who always make her laugh no matter what. She couldn't resist talking to him and has partially started liking him. For Sophie, life took a new turn from that day. It's hard to believe that a mere hug could have done this. But it's true that Annie's awkward hug had changed Sophie. Now she felt more wanted and simply great living her life. A mere hug brought smiles to her face which, everyone believes, will never fade again. As for Joe, he's still unaware of the miracles he'd done in the lives of these two friends. His mother had told him that morning to go and talk to the girl who he secretly likes. "You'll never know what you might get!" his mother had said. He had done just the same and is well on his way of confessing his feelings the coming Valntines day... It all comes down to the one person, Joe's mother, who decieded to quit whining and showered her love on her son which in turn changed the lives of others too... Look around. Maybe another Joe is just waiting for you to turn so that he can talk to you... © 2008 EnigmaAuthor's Note
