Friends..

Friends..

A Poem by Enigma
"

They don't hang around much...

"

They leave me again and again

And I'm left disappointed

A second later, they justify themselves

And I again agree to their demands

Knowing well how much I need them

They still neglect my presence

But, a fool, as I am

I blindly follow their lead

Which brings me to a place

From where they fly off

And I'm left behind

So many came

So many went

None ever tried to understand

Or simply hold my hand

I've spent my days thinking

What did I do wrong?

I would stare into the mirror

Pointing out all my flaws

Inside and outside

But I never showed how fragile I am

Not even to my own self

But that's the truth

That I need them

Call them friends or family

Or even someone special

They are my wings

Whether they like it not

They are my strength

Whether they believe it or not

But why don't they understand

The need of mine today

When I'm sitting all alone

Longing for a hearty chat

With someone I cal my 'friend'

But all the friends that I have now

Are my keyboard and mouse

Atleast they listen to what I say

They don't judge me

Or call me stupid

Just painfully listen to me

And never reply...

I thought I could do without them

But I simply can't

How can a bird live without her wings?

This is magnificent and heartbreaking!!

Wow...

"How can a bird live without her wings?"

Perfect ending! Just perfect!
This is great work Siya...

And of course, on content, one should never ever judge themselves so harshly and based on the thoughtlessness of others.... we are beautiful... no matter what they say!!!!! :)

This poem was very nostalgic for me. The beginning, anyway.
It made me remember the time where my two best and only friends started to shun me for some reason i had no knowledge of. I remember not having any friends for a while after that and breaking down because of it. I doubted myself constantly, picked at flaws, and most of all tried to figure out what my problem was, just as you described in this poem. In the end though, I learned to stand on my own two feet, with or without friends.
I really enjoyed this write, and it brought a great sadness to me, due to the fact that we are all so dependent on friends and family. The unfortunate reality is that those people will always be leaving you, and finding one that won't leave is like finding a needle in a haystack.
This is a really good write. I could really feel the lonliness as I read through it.

I am sorry, Siya. Everyone goes through periods of loneliness and quiet though. It is a great time to get content with who you are and meditate. I love quiet myself, but it took years for me to get to that place so I understand where you are.

I love this:

But all the friends that I have now

Are my keyboard and mouse

Atleast they listen to what I say

They don't judge me

Or call me stupid

Just painfully listen to me

And never reply...

I thought I could do without them

But I simply can't

How can a bird live without her wings?

A great write...:-) Carole

Well, you can talk to me :) I know it's not really the same...

I actually am going through kind of the same situation with my friends... it seems they don't really care at all about what i want or anything... They'll fly off with their fairy wings and leave me to sit in the grass watching them fly.... It really sucks but you will survive and soon you'll see that your wings will grow and soon you'll fly away and then they'll see that you are the one that gave strength to them... Trust me I know that... I grew my wings and left them in the sky yet some of the caught up and some of them i had to leave them behind... For You are you and they are they... if they want to be friends they will catch up someday....

This was a good piece, could have flowed better but it's raw and filled with emotions... Great Job!

Friends are easy enough to find, but true friends are a rarity. Keep your chin up, you'll find some. :) I'm usually around if you want someone to talk to, i'll talk about anything haha.

After having read this poem, I recognize a familiar problem/situation. We all need friend because indeed a bird is nothing without her friends... At the other hand if maintaining a friendship means that you have to adjust yourself to their demands, behaviour or interests to the point that it makes you feel uncomfortable, why maintaining those friendships. In my view, friendships should grow naturally and by adjusting yourself to others, you are not acting natural. Maybe your friends sense this and this can be the reason why the friendship is fading.
My advice: just act natural, be yourself and people are likely to feel more attracted to you... At this moment, you may be putting off people because you are not being yourself... Be yourself and do not try to connect in a pushy way, you will attract people that you have not met before! This is my experience!
As for your poem, the featured review says it all!

A message that tells people to care some more about their real friends, but first of all it is a wonderful poem that creeps slowly down under the readers skin.

Stunning work!

A great piece that I can totally relate too!! As sad as it may be, I often find that the pen and paper (or keyboard and mouse) are the best friends I have. Like you said, they listen. They listen without getting bored of hearing the same old complaints. They can't hurt you or leave you alone.

You are a very talented writer. Don't give up on friends; just as there is in love, there is a best friend out there for everyone. Keep up the good work!!
