Real Mom

Real Mom

A Poem by Enigma
"

A new concept for me...

"

My mom is different

My mom is unusual

I've tried and tried, but in vain

To understand her

Her actions bring tears to my eyes

Her words tear my heart apart

Her gazes push me into hell

I don't know why she does all this...

She pin-points my flaws out

But never really appreciates

When I'm feeling on top of the world

She pulls me back, down to earth

I ask her why?

She never really answers back

She hates them all

My family...me...

Atleast, that's how I see it

She shows sympathy to old people

Who live in old age homes

But prohibits me from getting close to my own grandpa

She says that I should be more helpful

But hates it when I take care of my sick aunt

She never really cared about my home, my family

But doesn't like it that I do

But it's not her fault, is it?

No...it's mine

I have more faults than she can tolerate

I always let her down

I never made her proud

But I tried to...

Yes! I did...

She has left me alone in these most crucial moments

When I need her the most

When I feel so weak, so vulnerable

But who'd care for someone like me?

So I've made myself an imaginary 'mom'

No one can see or hear her, but me

And, guess what?

She's the best Mom ever

She pats me on the back...

    ...even when I don't succeed

She appreciates all my efforts

She hugs me everytime she sees me

She gets angry when I don't behave

(But when she's around, I never misbehave)

In the night, I sleep listening to her sweet talks

She's someone I share all my secrets with

She's someone who cares for me

She's someone I like more than my 'real' mother herself

Now she's calling me to sleep

Even though it's way past mid-night

She still doesn't mind

Coz' she knows me

I can sense her arms around me

As I sit on my bed and write this poem

She frowns at the beginning

...but smiles at the ending

She has started her sweet lullaby

And her heavenly voice is filling up the room

My eyes are getting heavy

I put my pen down

And cuddle right next to her

She slowly pats on my head

Before I drift into my sound sleep

Four words escape my lips...

...'I love you, Mom.'...

its a lovely write you have up here, and thank God you know that "the perfect mom" exist in the realm of imagination...nothing under the sun is perfect (it is only GOD that is ALL-PERFECT).reminded me of the quote "it is when you give birth to your own children that you will thank and forgive your parents"...ones again lovely write, great flow and cool well conected stanzas.thanks for sharing

Oh Siya... You actually made me "think" of what kind of mom I am...

I know at times it has to be hard growing up... you paint a picture so vivid in your words...

WORDS are very powerful things right?

I always say it is best typing out our frustrations in life as well but you really put the person who is reading this in a place to "think."..

Good job!

It showed alot of emotions but i think that maybe it was just a rant and not really a poem... yet, i do have poems like this too... My "Honestly did you just say that" one is just like this... no flow, no rhythm nothing... but you did get your emotions out very well! Great job!

Isn't it fun to try something new... I know it's fun for me hehehe... Great job though... :)

this is the 3rd time I tried to leave a review for this poem...3rd times a charm :o)

the chosen subject is one that I am able to relate on two levels; as a daughter and a mother...wonderful expression from a child's point of view...I love the lesson in your message; what life gives to us and what we secretly wish for when life doesn't live up to our expectations...the words have an innocent child-like tone which allows the reader to relate to an adolescent vision.

WONDERFUL JOB for being a bit sleepy...

I have read the poem a few times now. I like the various feeling lines and sense that you understand there is no perfect mother. I do not kow what else to say. It shows the usual depth of your other work.

Angelic Darkness sent me a read request for this, and I'm glad that I've read it. You've written a lovely piece here about a topic which every one of us can relate to, be it a parent, a spouse, a love, etc. Thank you for sharing.

This is sweet and not as unusual as you might think Siya. People have imaginary friends, mothers and fathers, I personally don't, but I'm considering having an imaginary soul mate...less trouble than the real thing!! I think you have written this very well, no obvious mistakes and a light-hearted look at the world of dreams aspiring.
Cheers,
Helen :-))))
