Good Daughter

Good Daughter

A Poem by Enigma
"

Onee sad poem. Most of you won't like my idea...

"

She yells at me

And I hate her more

She nags at me

And I hate her more

She's over-protective

And I hate her more

She's way too defensive

And I hate her more

She doesn't understand

And I hate her more

She always has an evil plan

And I hate her more...

I forget to wish her 'Happy mother's Day'

And I hate myself more

My true feelings, I could never say

And I hate myself more

I always shout back at her

And I hate myself more

I always disobey her

And I hate myself more...

She's always hard on the outside

Maybe on the inside she's softer

And I cry my helplessness out

Coz' I know..

I can never be her 'good' daughter...

I know what you mean sometimes.... Sometimes you can't be that perfect child... trust me no one can be that perfect child... I will never be veiwed as that perfect child because i have peircings and tattoos.... peircings no one can see unless.... okay sorry... but in our imperfections we can achieve more in my opinion... This was good, i actually liked the repetition in it... Don't try to achieve the good daughter... achieve yourself and then you will be the good daughter....

Your concept was so powerful! What a beautiful message through the pain!
"I always shout back at her
And I hate myself more"- What wonderful lines, they depict many mothers and their daughters, which allow for a connection between your piece and them as responders.
Absolutely stunning...you have much talent for a 16 year old! Woweee!

I like the balance between hating her and hating yourself (for hating her). The mom-daughter relationship is something I keep returning to over the years, not quite sure how to put it into words. They can kill you with a look and yet in the same second you can't imagine life without them. Anyway ... I enjoyed your poem. It reminds me of my sister, who always had more battles with our mother than I did. (I was the 'good' daughter, though I also was the easier target to hurt.)
