The beginning...

The beginning...

A Chapter by Enigma
"

It's where the plan begins to take shape

"

I reached school wearing a broad smile on my face.Living in my visions of Amber making a fool of herself in front of everyone, I hardly noticed anything else that was happening around me.But this happiness was momentary as I soon realised that she had not come to school that day.

I tried putting my mind into different things, like studying, which I rarely do at school.I soon aknowledged that all the information the teacher was throwing at me was getting reflected rather than getting absorbed. To pass my time, I planned to complete my teacher's sentences in my way.The game began...

"The molecular formula of acetic acid..."

"...is something that you know and I don't."

"When it is heated..."

"..it gets warm and we start to yawn."

"However, at times it freezes..."

"...in our brains and we can't recall it during the tests."

By this time, I had my eyes closed and was doing nothing except listening to what my teacher was saying.

"Siya."

"...is having a great time.", I whispered to myself with a naughty smile.

"Siya! Who are you talking to?", my teacher boomed. The smoke from her nostrils and the tips of her horns were clearly visible, but only in my imagination.

"Umm.No one ma'am.",I replied.Being interrupted in the middle of my fun game, I stumbled with my words.

"Be quiet and concentrate!", she said turning away to face the black-board.

"...on the game", I silently added again.

Later, the same day, my whole friend circle gathered in the school play-ground.We occupied the farhest possible place from the school building. If the sports teacher had found us chatting during the games period, a five minute scolding was assured.

Being less of a chatter and more of a dreamer, I took my usual place in the corner.

I could barely make out the words but it was fine.I liked being in the corner and observing my friends jabbering continuously.

At times, I would change my style and day-dream.And what better  place than the corner of my friend circle where I'm a part of a group but can still enjoy the pleasures of solitude.I would day-dream about anything and everything.

"So, what do you think, Siya?', someone asked.

"Huh?", i said as if I had woken up from a sleep, which was partially true because my day-dreams sometimes pushed me itno the inviting arms of sleep.

"There strikes 'Siya - the day-dreamer' ", the guy replied. This so-called guy was Daksh, one of my oldest guy-friends.

With his average built and the shimmer of mischief in his eyes, no one would believe that he was a top ranker.Other than that, his foot-ball skills and lame jokes were an integral part of his personality. We rarely enjoyed or even understood his jokes, but smiled at his efforts which, at times, were really funny.

"Did you even listen to what was being discussed?", Amber asked rolling her eyes as if she appeared out of no-where.

I was about to reply when the earth came crashing down upon us.

I like the bantering way your characters behave and I LOVE the silent game you play with your teacher.

You are consistently on the edge of the group although you are also a part of the group, almost as though you wanted to be invisible yet be allowed to participate. An interesting concept.

Your vocabulary is improving and the story line keeps an interest alive.

You do need to watch your spelling, but for the moment it is more important to get the story down. Editing will come later on.

You said Amber was not at school at the beginning, yet she is there at the end, and you have re-introduced her quite well by saying "Did you even listen to what was being discussed?", Amber asked rolling her eyes as if she appeared out of no-where.

Your hook at the end is a definite puller to the next chapter.

Coming along nicely - keep up the good work.

Excellent continuation of the story. Character development is coming through well. Just one thought, you said at the beginning Amber was not at school this day, but then at the end Amber is talking in the group??? or is that why "...the earth came crashing down upon us." :-D
