On Lying

On Lying

A Poem by Sergei
"

Self-deception as defence mechanism

"

But I’ve tried to hate your hugs and smile

your thoughtful frown your caring your touch your smell your presence

I’ve tried and lied

you mean nothing and everything to me

Sun defeating Winter’s grip

and Sun obliterating solar system

7 billion humans and you stand out

for no good reason

you’re not beautiful you’re not smart you’re not caring you’re not loving you’re not funny you’re not witty you’re not empathetic you’re not ambitious you’re not accepting you’re not perfect

… I’ve tried and I’ve lied

I've always found myself being standoff-ish with others rather than welcoming them with open arms. But, there came a point where I realized that I must trust my feelings. My gut instinct tells me whether or not I can trust a person. I can try to lie and tell myself that I don't care about a person. Yet, we can all find the goodness in others.

Our life is more fulfilling when we find a person to grow and prosper with.
