I have seen you

I have seen you

A Poem by Sergei

I am not her.

i know that behind your smile
your jokes, your flirtatious remarks
lie scars
that she can't
begin to ponder on;
i watched you shirk away from a loving embrace -
from love's own grace -
to fall
flat on your face
at the feet of an empty heart
            with a fabulous face
                thighs clad in lace
                 - made your heart race
didn't it
(i know it did);
there is no god, my dear
for i swear
there is no prayer
i have not offered up to empty air
to have you here
and not

                                                over there
