Lovers in Eden

Lovers in Eden

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

I don't know if there is right
   After all these wrongs
Or forgiveness in my songs
     A nightmare for another day.

Because tonight you look like Orion
   The heavens alive on Earth.
I'd trade my last breath to roar,
   Dance and swell with you
On this ballroom floor.
The venom n' rum in our glasses
Brings us together in a foggy memory.
In the morning we'll go walking
Pass the ghosts of our evening,
Hand in hand through the garden
Lovers in Eden.
