Monday

Monday

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Tick-tock
   Beats the wings
Of my alarm clock.

The sunlight subtly flashes
   Revealing her naked beauty.

The air fills with the scent of morning
   My caffeinated addiction.

A song-bird lies to me
About the beautiful day to behold.
I lie back,
   A lack-luster excitement,
As I journey to the door.

Monday begins
   Save me from the bore.
