A Fleeting Kiss

A Fleeting Kiss

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

A fleeting kiss weird heavier than the rest.
The long and passionate speak of the hope fore tomorrow.
But the fleeting knows the uncertainty of life and love.
   It whispers the truth:

"I can't promise myself to you,
I have places to go and people to be.
But you are worth a part of me. So
take this, my kiss. Remember the taste
of my lips. I know yours upon mine,
           it's my favorite broken record.
           Constantly repeating in my mind.
But hush now, I've said too much,
the kiss is longer than it must.
I bid you farewell, truly, all
will be well. And when we get there,
I'll find you in hell, that our souls
may cross for one fleeting second more."
