The Recital

The Recital

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Eclectic mind,
   Can't write one f*****g rhyme
Songs of love turned to lust
       My issues with trust
         I chain-smoke
Hoping to die a different bloke
Drown out the spirits in my mind
With the smoothest spirits and wine
When I'm done chasing my tail
I'll tell you the saddest of tales
     It will be mine
And I'll have worn it well.
Besides, what is any of this
But one big recital for hell.
