Wander

Wander

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

I walked out tonight to ponder,
Perhaps just to wander,
Breathe in the silent wonder
Of where I'm going, been, and gone.
I don't remember half my life
The other I'm trying to forget.
I hope to disappear
Like my breath in this midnight air.
I'll become a specter
Of my own haunted life.
Finally to be the nothingness
I feel I am deep inside.
The spirit I lack in the material,
I'll find in the immaterial
Because nothing worth having
Could ever be touched.
