Intoxication

Intoxication

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

It's amazing how intoxicating a person can be.
How you are never really sure you lived until you met them.
They are stronger than any liquor to meet a pair of lips.
More addictive than any substance sold in secret.
They are vibrant, as though they embody a star.
You're sure every minute movement of their hand deserves special attention.
And you lavishly give it to them.
Therefore drink deeply of their love and your own intoxication
For starlight disappears in the morn.
