Love is a Drug

Love is a Drug

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

love for the masses
   love for the few,
       how can I honestly say
'I love you'?
   Your touch sends chills
but so does theirs.
      I'm no man of fame
lay no claim on any heart
my gypsy life sends me always away
      Pacific to Thames.
countless days loving you
    loving her
        loving him,
repeat it again.
love is but a drug to my veins
sends a thrill
       then I spill.
I need another rush
     so, baby, don't blush.
if you need a quick escape
well they sell it on every corner.
buy it it and break it
    feel her run the course,
then you will understand
maybe even sell it like me
at the cross-section of Love and Hate
