Shadows on the Wall

Shadows on the Wall

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Oh my eye of the midnight sky
Watching over all paths leading home,
       As diamonds course through coal
Your gaze pierces as hers lays siege.
Lazily you laugh and dance through lover's hair
Reminding us of your own reckless affairs,
Playing cat and mouse with the morning light
           That playful and endearing bite.
Absorbing the silence you echo it back
A deafening yell over all you see.
Only half-open, you still light the way
To the stop just short of heaven
               The closest I'll ever be.
Here I'll bathe in the shadows
   She casts across my skin,
       As the world keep spinning
           We'll lose your peaceful gaze.
As quietly as you appeared
   On you move,
       To watch more shadows
           Dance against the wall.
