My Favorite Bridge

My Favorite Bridge

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Disheveled
     Unraveled
Her blonde hair fell
     Down a freckled face
The ends softly dancing
On the tip of my lips.
With eyes that shone
     A blazing white heat.
Then her soul grasped mine
     And for a moment
I think we intertwined..
But I had promises to break
Bridges to burn.

And as I piled ash on ash
I felt her creep up from my past
The heat of her stare,
     Making me feel bare
As I felt on our last night
When I broke the only promise I intended to keep
         And burnt my favorite bridge.

but can you sleep?

a great feel, piece of your story with a tribute piece
that intertwines the two of a journey beginning and ending. bitter bitter sweet.

Thanks! Glad you liked it.
I'm glad you recommended this for me to read! It's awesome! It has a Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening feel to it and I really like that.

Thanks! Again I am glad you liked the piece. I think it is one of my better gloomy pieces.
My intrigue is peeked by the end, which I have a perplexing wondering. What was the reason to burn the bridge held in such high regard. I then realize to do that, the reason had to be pivitol such a sacrafice not so easily made.
