The Eternal Pursuit

The Eternal Pursuit

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

My eternal pursuit of imperfection
Led me steadily in your direction.
Your demons are dark; all bite and no bark.
   Mine are many,
       Last time I counted
Twenty
   You prayed for a prince
An angel of innocence.
   I said "Hello"
From Hell down below.

I bellowed my devilish voice
You swayed to my unintended charm.
Did we really have a choice?
I promise I meant you no harm

Now we're intertwined
A love that is truly sublime.

Two entities damned
   To watch their love expand.
