Heroin Blossoms

Heroin Blossoms

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Standing here
Holding her beating heart
She offers it, a slight smile
Extending her arm she offers her soul.
A burden oft' heavy to shoulder
Do you drop or hold?
A line as thin as the needle in my arm
Heroin blossoms, colored explosions
The portrait of our life together
I step forward and receive
Together we leave
Vulnerable and lustful
Into an adventure
A lifetime long.
