An Infinite Meaning

An Infinite Meaning

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

The Preacher man's voice
Boomed with the thunder
Thunder of the God's wrath.
Rain trickled down
Spring colored windows.
Whips crackled
The congregation sighed and swayed.
I dodge piercing looks,
Judging my trail-worn clothes.
Left quicker than Beelzebub himself,
Tuned in to the prophets of the stereo.
Offered a Highway to Hell
Or a Stairway to Heaven.
Shot Heroin with Reed
ON a Magical Mystery Tour.
Now face to face with the deities that be
With purple haze and glory ablaze.
The Universe pulses to an abrupt stop
And I dispersed with the smoke
Into an infinite meaning.
