Woman, Love, or Hun

Woman, Love, or Hun

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

These lines are but the lies
I repeat to myself
Whenever you flutter across my mind.
Re-writing the memories I have of you
& the ways you treated me,
Putting myself at blame
For each and every fight
Throughout our darkest nights.
The place you said I belong,
For no woman can do man wrong.
Now I sit, speaking to the uncaring
About our last naked night
Where you forced your love
Breaking my spirit
Furthermore
Breaking me.
You laughed when it was done,
Said I should be thankful
No other would sleep with scum like me.
You said no one would believe me,
& you were right.
So I am on the run
From any woman, love, or "hun."
