Where Words Are Not Needed

Where Words Are Not Needed

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Liquor on my lips
    Your scent on my breath.
       Come on, babe,
          We're nothing but young.
              And I've got terrible ideas
                 Of reckless and wild things
                     We can only do together
                         In dark, hidden places.
I want to intertwine
   Your body with mine.
      Bound with rope
         Tie our two souls together
I want to see what colors we can make
As we wrap our bodies tighter and tighter
                     Let's slip into lover's ways
Where no more words are needed.

The structure you gave to this piece really amplifies the reading, doesn't it.
I like that. And the intense intimacy comes through.
