Red Velvet Lips

Red Velvet Lips

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Fishnet legs and Red Velvet lips
Midnight dress with crimson heels in hand.
         Everything I have ever wanted
Swaying to the rhythm of my fears.
No doubt she could devour me,
      Heart and soul,
          Inside those curls and eyes.
Swallow me up into infinite darkness
Illuminated only by her pale skin.
When I touched her, she dissolved into the stars
      Leaving me alone.
Now she lights up each night
             Just out of reach,
                My Northern Light
                    Leading me home.
