Nicotine

Nicotine

A Poem by Sir Fusting
"

I need a cigarette.

"
she blooms from the smoke
a true view to behold
so whispy and white
twisted in flight
then she's gone.

with a drag of the stick
i force her awake
and her beauty continues
to captivate
then she's gone.

oh how many times
will I see her fly
only to dive so deeply
and die so sweetly
and try to keep me
intrigued.

oh my sweet
Nicotine
but a dream
sweet

Nicotine...

I quit smoking 75 days ago. I too 'need a cigarette' haha.
The gender-based parallel works...although I should probably say it's sexist, women don't merely exist to pleasure male needs and all that etc etc.
PC Poetry...lol.
I really liked the snappy rhythm, driven by an unpredictable rhyme scheme.
Excellent language and metaphor use to describe the brief, elusive buzz.
[damn, now I'm thinking the head-rush type buzz would be amazing if I smoked a cigarette right now, waking up the nicotine receptors after 75 days of deprivation...*smacks own nose*]

Overall, a good piece. Entertaining and well-written.
Have you quit too, or did you run out of cigs and money or something?

I tell myself this thing everyday when I wake up! I really enjoyed the descriptions and how you used the metaphor of comparing a cigarette to a woman. Clever :) nicotine is always something to help calm you down after such a long day, especially needed after a stressful one! Very nice job!
