Stonewall

Stonewall

A Poem by Brian
"

A poem about the thing that holds back everything.

"
Stonewall

Sometimes I can write, sometimes I can not

I can sit for hours, my mind drawing a total blank.

Sometimes my mind is like a stonewall, nothing

Will go past it, but everthing gets halted.

I have a passion to write, I have a passion to compose,

However, that stonewall blocks it all. It all seems so hard at times

Just to write a simple sentence, that I just want to yell.

But one day, that stonewall will be gone, like a dam holding back

Tons of water, my stonewall will break, releasing tons of ideas.

This is really good. I think we all as writers can relate to this. Sometimes you're whole body is yearning to compose a poem or start on a story but your mind just refuses to produce. You write a sentence, scratch it out, write two words, erase and finally crumple the paper up and throw it hard against the wall. And then when that wall is released and you can write again its like a huge wave of words and emotions is let loose and you feel so relieved. Well described.

Nice, those last two lines really brought this piece home. The image I got from that made me exclaim out loud, "wow." I'm sure any writer can relate to that feeling of "writers block". It's like being caged in. Keep it up.
