Different

Different

A Poem by Siobhan Welch
"

Really, where would mankind be without those who are different?

"

In another century,

He would have

debated the heavy metal

philosophy of Neitzsche.

He would have enjoyed

soaking up the sun

and timeless discussions

with Socrates Johnson.

Emmanuel Kant

and Descartes

Would have requested

His presence, for balance.

Rimbaugh would have

tempted him with absinthe,

And his genius, soared

Steadfast in spirals.

And now, in our modern age,

Genius and idiocy

Are disabilities, both the same.

It's such a shame.
