I'm Ready

I'm Ready

A Poem by Siobhan Welch
"

Let's do this!

"

I'm ready.

I'm prepared

To jump off

This cliff.

It's not the dive

I took

Into the

Pool's black mold.

Or the retreat

I made into my

Little box

Of peace and quiet.

Or the one I hoped

Would empty by veins

Until my mom's kitchen

became a mess.

Or the one where the

World moved a foot to the right

And I stepped

Into the abyss.

It's the leap

That lands me

In a warm embrace.

My first.

Hold that embrace as long as you can... and it will stay with you forever.

Nicely done, suicide and religion rolled into one. How time has softened those weak enough to let them. Fantastic imagery and well thought out, well done.

So well done... as usual.
