Maudlin

Maudlin

A Poem by Siobhan Welch
"

Well, there actually are worse traits.

"

Maudlin -

Oh, yes.

I've been accused.

No reason

You can claim,

But now,

I no longer own

Your condescension.

I gave my all

As the devil required.

What did you give

To me?  A gift.

One that made me see

What my spirit

Could overcome.

My strength

My power

To open

The door

And walk away.
