In The Bass Clef Key of E

In The Bass Clef Key of E

A Poem by Siobhan Welch
"

A small gray sparrow dances with a king, unbeknownst.

"
The air moved out of his way.
He parted it with
his words and smoke,
and his voice of
gilded velveteen,
sung in the
bass clef key
of E.

She steeled her single,
sky gray fibre of
desire, passion and lust,
and gave him the gifts of
Suzy, Jennifer and Chris,
for of herself, there was
nothing to give worth having.
Her gifts, accepted
in silent affirmation.

And the air continued to give him way.
He parted it with
his words and smoke,
and his voice of
gilded velveteen,
still sung in the
bass clef key
of E.
