You can't hurt me

You can't hurt me

A Poem by Siobhan Welch
"

Sing this song to yer favorite blues tune. I insist.

"

You can't hurt me
Just because you try.
No, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
And honey, you can't fool me
Just because you lie.

Well, the wind blows through my hair, child
The wine, it’s flowin’ through my veins.
I said the wind blows through my hair, child,
The wine keeps flowin’ through my veins.
You know, the wind, it whispers to me
That I am not insane.

It says, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
No, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
And honey, you can't fool me
Just because you lie.

When I laid my head down on this cold hard rock, babe
I knew that I would live or die.
Yeah, when I laid my head down on this cold hard rock, child
I knew that I would live or die.
But when I opened my eyes, well,
Lord, I heard the angels cry.

They said, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
Naw, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
And honey, you can't fool me,
Just because you lie.

I drew myself a house -
Threw open every door -
I said, "come in, whatever may,
I ain’t hidin' anymore!"

No, you can't hurt me
Just because you try.
I said, no, you can't hurt me,
Just because you try.
And little girl, you can't fool me,
No, not with the way that you lie.
