A Poem by Hope

Oh, a knave for a heart and

Vengence for a mind!

Alas, repent wretchéd soul or

So suffer the fire unquenchable!

Do not let the heat anger your

Nor just the chill'd breeze calm you.

Do not let just one rose pursuade you

Nor one daggar entice you.

Become humble, my soul and

     elude the wrath coming for you!

The time of growth and learning

     purifies your being so that

     Wisdom may proudly wear you as His ring.

Take care of yourself and

Avenge not the frustrations

     harboured in your heart.

Depend not on the life of May

Nor excuse yourself in mid-December;

     though the piles of ice grow as they may.

Rather, rely on Him whose call is silent

     for the call of the Lord, to the ears of your spirit,

     will awaken your eyes in the most

     heaviest of nights.

Rely on His life.

Conform, now, yourselves to his Son to be alike;

     Alike in spirit, alike in nature, true to His calling.
