De(sire)troy

De(sire)troy

A Poem by Daniel Kivlehan
"

Excessive obsession.

"

De(sire)stroy

I want it, I need it, I have to have it

A paradoxical requirement

Materialistic enlightenment

I (can)t live without

It.

A dark clutching desire

Ripping me from normality

A bright burning fire

Taking me from reality

This possession is me

Can you not see?

It devours thy

WHY DO I NEED THIS

OBJECT

Object to ever having it

Never lavish it

Forget

Its pull is too strong

This chaotic bond

Is dragging me along (?)

I drag myself through broken images

Unaware of the pain my wanting causes

The hero of the piece

Stops.

And pauses.
