Unreachable

Unreachable

A Chapter by Sins

Fire's eyes fluttered open in an attempt for her to keep awake. In bed, snuggled in her warmed blankets and fluffy, soft pillows, it was all she could do to not fall asleep.
I wonder what Blade’s up to? She thought as she rolled over onto her back, which ached from the pressure she had put on it from laying on her side. It was constantly aching, her back, but she'd learned to live with it for the most part.
Oh yeah, he has a girlfriend now. The thought made Fire cringe in trepidation. She didn't believe Blade and Girl worked well together. Blade seemed to be in it for the sex and, well, Girl wanted something more. It wasn't something she was proud of, but Fire often summed Blade and Girl's relationship down to f**k buddies. That was all Blade ever told her they were.
Fire twisted a strand of hair in her fingers as her brain conjured up an image from the past: Her and Blade, talking nonsense over the phone one night when sleep just wasn't welcoming either of them. She'd fallen asleep to his voice that night, and when she had woken the next morning they'd still been connected. Sometimes, Fire missed the days that felt like far-off, unreachable memories.
