At Least Tonight

At Least Tonight

A Chapter by Sins

Of course the day wouldn't just end when she was feeling the least bit content. Of course the divines had to finish her horrible day but giving it a horrible end. Of course Fire couldn't just get a break. With a shuddering breath, a nice, cool washcloth was pressed gently to the skin of her face. Her eyes were shot red and rubbed raw, from crying too much, and her cheeks were flushed and burning hot. The cool cloth soothed the burning skin.
Everything you do is a bullshit excuse for your life.

Why do you cry all the f*****g time?

You're always a mess, get ahold of yourself.
Fire covered her mouth with the washcloth as she let fresh cries and tears tear out of her again. She wanted to see Sunshine, she wanted to talk to her and be comforted by her. She needed her Sunshine. Sunshine already had enough on her plate though, she had her own worries and sickness and headaches, and Fire was sure she didn't need any more baggage being pushed onto her shoulders. She wanted Sunshine, but Sunshine would have to wait.
Why did Scar have to come in out of nowhere and say all of those things to her? She was just beginning to relax from her already-terrible day, but then he had to come and make it worse. Her room was as out-of-the-way as out-of-the-way could get. He acted as father, but it was all just deception. He wanted respect, but was filled with disgrace. All of it was as clear to Fire as the scar on his face.
At least tonight, I'll get some sleep, Fire silently told herself, because at least I'll be able to cry myself to sleep.
