The Wrong Thing

The Wrong Thing

A Chapter by Sins

The muffled buzzing is what pulled her out of her dreamless sleep. Her eyes lazily slid open as she sat up quietly in her bed and peered into the darkness. It was amazing, she thought, how peaceful such depth without any light could be. A strand of her hair tickled her back in a way that sent a shiver down her spine. Sudden thunderous noises of something running above her up and down the stairs caused her to flinch, despite herself. Choking back a cry, it was only then that Fire reached up and flicked on the lights, her room blurring out of focus.
When had I gone to sleep? Fire asked herself as she stretched back on her bed and reached for her phone. Four, four-thirty? Her clock said 6:45.
S**t. I'm late. With an aggravated sigh, Fire rushed to put on clothing for the day and momentarily wondered what her grandmother would find wrong with her today. Perhaps she'll forget to tie her shoes this morning, or maybe just answer a question in the wrong way.

I think Sunshine has too much influence over you.

Fire ignored the comment as she passed the older woman through the kitchen.

I think Sunshine has too much bad influence over you.

Fire stopped before rounding the corner to the living room, eyes flicking back and glaring dangerously at the woman, before she slowly continued her trek through the house. That had been the wrong thing to say.

I find my self rather dubious and exciting, she doesn't understand.
