A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

I'm trying to overcome some of my past poems, that I feel were quite excellent. I'm hoping I can make something even better. All I can do is try, so of course, I will do this with everything I have.

"

Welcoming the call

I’ll trade my life for all

(Balcony and stall)

(I fade into the walls)

The fatigue of paraplegic eons breathing in Elysium

Riding

Through the dandelions of silent vinyl

Wildflowers of cowards ballad the interstellar melody

Melancholy propellors of falling stars who thought they were fly

The sun poking out behind the cover of clouds

A mirror, pistol-whipping Icarus

An arrogant barricade of glazed eyes

Like a bullet-point-blank in a magazine

Without any good lines snorting Expurgatorius

Star-crossed lovers zigzag twilight drivebys

Tie the knot (in each other’s stomach of butterflies)

And leave each other hanging (from their entrails)

Devouring the hourglass a foamy ocean of craft beer

Sulphuric lyrics marrow of heroine

Covenants mothering the smothered brotherhoods the colour of June

The soundless hallelujah disembowelling Valhalla

Lookup sundown sideways vibrant maestros kaleidoscope

Groping for God’s cardboard on the boulevard

Omnipotent opium fogs hodgepodge slaughterhouse the glass bottles’ mouth

It’s not as bright as it used to be

How blinded people are

Shedding light on the shadow they cast away the dice for

Growing old in their ivory fields of monochrome

The boney wreckage broken onto the edge of the jagged razor

The marrow of kerosine trailblazing God’s maze again

Sound bonding Adonis bionic anacondas

Of auburn insomnia stardust rusting in the rain

Climbing creaking latter’s sending letters to heaven for the good word

The skeletons of metal frames in the scrapyard of God’s words

Dominatrix of the apex of matrix patriots

Of latex matriarchs barking lifeless bronchitis

Amaretto yellow-bellied belladonna fauna following the path of rapture

Hippopotamus gobbledegook inukshuk of the lookout of hell

The sculpture’s vultures of holocaust velociraptors running laps

With a head start around the chopping block

The itch of the pitch-black rasp of my slide down the rockface’s smile

The falling rain stains my heart blue as a summer day

A stream of clouds inhaled through my nose catching secondhand smoke

Fluttering homunculi hovering governors

Of stubborn motherhoods of driftwood Icarus

Lucid revolutionaries grooves of the aluminum fuselage

Sabotaging cosmos monochrome lotus swollen with osteoporosis

Fairy-tale wailing discombobulated maelstroms

Set sail on the river of tears in a paper cup

Tangoing dandelions mangled bangles

Jangle angels entangle intangible pianists

Mandarin amethysts zigzagging

Champagne canopies rambling damnation

Alstroemerias paraphernalia halo varicose oceans

Pulsing altocumulus of loose lips hiss(tory)

Potions of dopey osmosis chauffer

Dystopian dopamine colloquialism stigmatisms glitter

Mitochondrial discombobulated onomatopoeia

Outreaching the snow-bleached peaks of Elysium

Weaving dreamlands spangled sandwiched brambling branches of

Icelandic intangible dandelions

Diamonds silo lionhearted armadas

I wage war on a paycheck mate

Bioluminescent chess pieces pepper my skin like a Gatling gun on sandpaper

Samsara dharma the harvest moons perfume

Of Judas ludicrously rejuvenating intuitively

Illuminate ventricular wicker men

Hell bending dismembering heaven hallucinogenic

 Illustrations of the umbilical ventriloquistic

Twisting riffraff gibberish and listening vicariously

Cerulean pillows billowing acrylic villanelles of silicon

Valkyries’ immortality swivelling frivolous guillotine fertility

I go to hell so I could visit you

Paradise is another visage viewed

Ouroboros distorted accordions vortex flexing Lexicon

Chastising kaleidoscopes hitting barricades of tsunami waves

Welcoming the call

I’ll trade my life for all

(Alchemy enthralled)

(Our blade a rusty God)

I’m about to

Take you out the picture

This is my shot

We share views from a different lens

Flicking candle wicker men winded by the spindling

Echoing decibels decorate gastrointestinal

Cardiovascular extraterrestrial sepulchres

Devouring the hourglass

The sun centrifugal pistol-whipping Icarus

To climb so far just to fall in love

Covenants brotherhoods the colour of June

A different ball game for a basketcase

The soundless hallelujah

Huisheng

Grammatical clavicle rambling animals damaged cannibals smiling lilac

Dabbling in the rabbit hole to bury the bones of comatose soma

Woven chromosomes stoned on pheromones

Cloverleaf buried monasteries carelessly worn away

Pianists of shantytown trebuchet heavenly Deuteronomy

Valkyries immortality swivelling frivolous acrylic guillotine fertility

Hollow volcanoes cradle maelstroms malting

Under the waltzing waxing wanning gangrene statue of the neutered moon

My potbelly called the kettle black; a steampunk sunburn

And is a padded cell filled with people who could eat my heart out

Huisheng blooming cherry blossom doppelgangers

The sun poking out behind the cover of clouds

A mirror in a dim-lit prison cell

Or a damp washroom stall, pistol-whipping Icarus

Devouring the hourglass-like a foamy ocean of craft beer

Bottomless contemplation of onyx constellations

A discombobulated foggy hodgepodge

Of frolicking harmonies of halo maelstroms

It’s not as bright as it used to be

How blinded people are

Shedding light on the shadow they cast away the dice for

Gamble your piece of mind on a checkered board

Bioluminescent chess pieces

Polyphonic poneglyths electroconvulsive

Monochromatic sabbath of Avalon

Lavender scabbards of hazmat Vatican

Splatter the salamander’s rambling

Abaddons’ gladiators

See ensemble dangling piano

Babbling dabbling mavericks

Eclipse the lips of Sanskrit gypsies

Analytical mitzelplik day drifting polycrystalline

Willow wisp abyssal ripples of wicker omniscience

Singing f**k the system again my silo hieroglyphics

The distant symptoms of in-sync rhythm

Dimmer oblivions scimitar kwanza harmonies

Corneas Morningstar barbie dolls

Barbiturates barbecue the darling harlequin

Monarchistic missionaries without clarity

Flaring lariat secretariat presbyterian prairielands

Shed light like bioluminescence

Chess-pieces of slipknotted thoughts like a chainlink fence

A necklace of evanescent predestined predecessors of Everest

Ukrainian rainbows of animating Himalayans

Against the Plato grains of alienated Salem

Riddles of imprisoned rivers slithering gibberish defibrillate amaryllis killers

Gastrointestinal celestials or cardiovascular astronauts

Dilapidated Lancaster molasses in a shot glass house that throws up stoned

Calling the shots

Take you out the picture

I’m about to

Lovecraftian

After everything that’s happened

Nothing can be normal again

Pointing the finger at me like the needle on a broken record

Writing lines on the blank slate of the flesh

Slitting the throat into another smile

Sculpting the formless words from the smokestack of my mouth

Burning away until malleable

Until clay putty squished between the thumb and forefinger of God

Bent and balled in the palm

Misshapen into a better man

Repeating the same actions without any different results, revolt

Revolutionaries cut their hands free from the shackles of God

Wildflowers welcoming Valkyries

Climbing violet iris of wildfire violins

Millennia edifice the crescent’s tip

Lucifer’s crucifix

All that glitters isn’t gold

Combing chromosomes of loathsome Mona Lisa

Dripping lithium school(ing fish) tripping

Minstrel’ing oblivions

Luminaries booming

Cruising crackling

Cackling blackjacks

Backflip sacrilege on the edge of the coming

Sunny dredging of sledgehammer megalomania

Cardiovascular ancestors anchor in the Atlantic pancreas

Rocketing apocryphal

Cellos envelop cerebellum

Nebulous celestials of mandala andromeda collage Molotov

Knowing my footnote like the back of my hand

The world that couldn’t hold the weight of my words

Twists its tongue like a loose screw getting hammered

The people I call my family that slowly kill me

In order to live in chaos

A landscape of muddy sunsets

Drowning in the algorithms of moonlit prisms

And I go still

As the world moves on

Like an old man who is far too used to torture

Numb to the pain it didn’t have to feel

Death is an old friend

I ride with him

I don’t go back on my word

Leave my foreword at the start of the end

There’s only so far I can go

Mastering the plot when I’m buried in the gravel

Unravelling the Gatling staccato of my own shadow

Find my own path through the ashes the asters of rapture’s balaclava

Captured vast earths birthing serpentine Herculean

Burying marionettes of feathered deserts like a never-ending reverend

Of a devastated heaven

A pendulum of requiems crepuscular vasectomy

I was beaten into the ground just to sprout from the roots

Of flattened flowers blooming luminous ludicrous

Now I tower overpowering Valhalla

In the patch of grass a slack jaw’s hourglass

Pastures bastion basilisks crafting Lovecraftian ecclesiastical dilapidation

My fist raised high above the mountains’ balcony of Valkyries’ Albion

To be the king without a crown

Looking for a hole to stumble down

To be brought to my knees

And bleed another summit’s seed

Carnival’s armadas carnal daughters of unharnessed darkness

Overreaching seething cloverleafs

Of fleecy equilibrium’s rhythm grieving a breathing Elysium churning the words

Curling sterling metallurgical hurricanes

Riding the leviathans of iron chain choir

Kaleidoscopes iris blighting titans of cytoplasm

Orgasms in lavender avenues

Never to see the sunlight

A life ripe for the picking rots on the vine

The bells of hellfire came calling frolicking in their moccasins

Offspring’s toppling crossbreeds of monoliths gondola

In the soundless debris of an endless sea

Canoes of coffins lost and forgotten dreams sail free flailing weeds

Under the thunder of broken glass trees

Bottling bottomless auburn tsunamis harvested from boneyard Tartarus

Drowsy drowning on the cloudy breeze

Mayflowers disembowel my vowels

Tie-dye skylines climax dying intertwined

With iris of Nihilist skyscrapers silo violated dialects

Digitals ribbons of schisms imprison prisms of rhythm’ deliverance

Rivers of forgiveness riddle swimming primrose

Scimitars of limerick visionaries livid with equilibrium

Prairie's varicose coasting oceans of osteoporosis

Winding up the clockwork of my ticking heart

Until my time is over

Riding through the motions of noiselessness

Recoiling my fingers in the ricochet of day reflecting off my glasses

Like a memory of the lost isles of my silence

Reverberating currents blurring in the slurring of surging eternities

Still as your picture

Riding in your unrealistic daydreams forever

Welcoming the call

I’ll trade my life for all

(Valkyries that fall)

(I slay this masquerade and crawl)

Bottom Line

Answering the call

Curdling blood, I draw

And shoot out with the mob

With my pointer finger aimed at them

Bang

Entrails railroad the comatose ghost

Of broken oceans spoken locomotives

Posing frozen lotion glaucoma coasts of osteoporosis

Recoiling the well-oiled spill of syllables

Over the hills of amaryllis my ventriloquist

Villainous guillotines

Dreaming acrylic umbilical calligraphy pigment stigmas lingering signatures

Looking for signs of life among pillaged billboards

Disembodied by the Godlessness

Your pulse is my tightrope deciphering the microphone meteoric agoraphobic

A fine line between the black and white picture frames

The canyon of megalomanic dangling shadowlands

Span the avenues of diabolic andromedas

Like a felt tipped pen

A mirage of polyphonic collages disembodied by the Godlessness

Volumes of columns solace churches’ merchants

Of purpose and mercuries lethal Prometheus

I’m an outline of your silhouette

Getting down on myself knocked up to cloud nine and the bottom line is

If you fell for me

You’d be quite the catch

You were always drop dead gorgeous

I’m still climbing

On edge with the world

Cutting deeper than the flesh

Chewing through aluminum

Frolicking thralls of Neapolitan andromedas

Monoliths of August samsara bargaining with armadas of Tartarus

Raining incendiary memories

A pyre’s kaleidoscope

Forgetting heaven to remember Armageddon

Empires diving in the limelight of Plato’s maelstrom

Another failure slayed by saviours

Depraved of haven’s lackadaisical lacerated prairielands

Buried by the bloody hands of God

In the smoggy sabotage of origami mantras

Of dogma tsunamis in bottomless chorography

Of a cloaked figurines Stygian oblivion

Of sanguine dreams, brambled hangman

Strangling the annuls of dandelions

The strands of fate

Dolls burning eternities in waterboarding hallucinatory Ouroboros

Expurgatorius corneas malformed orders of purgatory

At the stake

Riding asylum wide awake

Holding the reins of another war waged to the end of days

As the flowers bend and sway

Marionettes vicariously buried in the prosperity of an arrogant sun

An open mouth with empty lungs

Centuries of penitentiary’s born young

Strung up by the stars of guitar strings as their Gods sing whispering

Polycrystalline ringing infinite Olympians’ gypsies

Of crimson symphonies of winters’ photosynthesis

A linguistic imprint of Sanskrit chrysalis

Abyss, a bottle of wine, the (last/bottom) line, of a kaleidoscope

A cardiovascular labyrinth of lavender cadavers avalanching Saturns

Of madness megalomanic planetariums

Ferrying alstroemerias wisteria clarinet limericks rich in serendipitous eclipse

Briskly strangling tranquility

In an umbilical mildew illuminating lucid crusaders

Riding the extraterrestrial semblance

The crescent resonance of remembrance

An iridescent sepulchre’s bloom

The colour of June

I think this is very good. I especially like the lines:
'How blinded people are

Very good indeed.
