One Word

One Word

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)

Pieces of me crumble to ash in the light of a melting sun

Like an ice-cream cone crying its ocean flesh into a pool on the pavement

Every ripped static buzz from within my Rorschach canvas

My inkblot summer melting into a million kaleidoscopes of grey

The swiveling ink within my empty glass heart

Liquor that reminds me

Of the words I’ve engulfed like the empire of the night

A pyre of all the books I have read molding into one word

I cannot read

I cannot write the same word over and over again

The definition of insanity

History repeats itself

Like a brittle heartbeat flatlining into a collage of colour

All I am is one word oil brushed into a bonfire

I don’t even know what that word is

Yet

I pretend to understand the meaning

Let it slip off my tongue

And lazily bring it into coalesce within a sentence

I don’t know myself that well yet

Maybe I’ll get to know that melancholy madman someday

And then, I won’t be one word, alone

I promise I read every single review, and I generally will reply to them. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be happy to hear anything you feel needs sharing. Whenever you write on my shortcomings or breakthroughs, or the themes of my poems, or share ideas and friendly criticism, it decides my next poem to an extent. I will listen, learn and be thankful. And 99% of the time, you'll get a reply unless you're trolling me.
