Shadow

Shadow

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

Even a darker shade can come to light, brought to life by the words of a deadman. Sleeping cinders under the covers of darkness burning with desire fallout like a light smothered by their pillows.

"

Angels fall like bombs on the bottom floor

We’re going down together

Now and forever

The best of both worlds falls from the sky like a message from God

The ravings of a madman watching the world fall apart piece by puzzle piece

Scorpions of vorpal Morningstar’s crawl in the shadowlands of the enlightened ones

Kindled hearts create the darkest shade

Even angel wings can be a blade

The tallest towers touch the bowels of hallelujah

Setting fire to the soul like a Sun, hearts of gold

Run aground in the clouds of the city street

Breaking hearts is as simple as following the directions of the dead moon

Stepping onto the stairway to heaven

You’re alone

Leaving everything else in the dirt

Growing from the decay

Darkness can take the world by storm

We are too heavyhearted to follow you

We cannot adjust our eyes to the light

We cannot see your world

We cannot be your shadow

We will take your place

Create another grim flame to look out upon our faded fable

Burning for you

Neither a dark fate nor a bright future, just grey feathers

We were your angels

Yours and yours alone

The crows that cry lullabies in your sted

Your nightmare come back to life

Your lantern-soul incandescent and dead as the world you left us imprisoned within

Celestial jesters malevolent spectres wretchedly in iridescent ascension

Stairs you could never climb

Cliffs you could never scale

Lives you could never live

Like the darkness of your poem, maybe change the first line to make it stronger though. Angels fall like bombs hitting the ground. This is the perfect poem for the time we find ourselves in today. The world sure is on the edge, and will be for a long time to come.
