Licht und Schatten (Ash, Crows, and Empty Hearts)

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

German for Light and Shadow. Paying tribute to a great song I heard. The title in brackets is also a nod at another favourite song. Both were listened to while writing this. Enjoy, I sure did!

Licht und Schatten (Ash, Crows, and Empty Hearts)

Dark thoughts come to light

Midnight sunrise, moonlit dawn

Death is the only way to live, the corpses that I carry on

Oh the world that I would give, if they could only stay as long

As the shadow’s grasp my tangled heart

And the light flickers like a stain

There are black coals burning in my brain

Let the green abyss, deep in photosynthesis

Eat the pieces of my soul

So I could say my life was meaningful

When they bury God’s below

Who sacrifice the hermaphrodite acolytes of the purge

And our waterlogged bodies reemerge

Singing bells knell like a dirge

Rotting in the morning sun

See here father, what you’ve done?

Man is a forgotten son

The webs that deviled young have spun

The end of worlds has just begun

Watch the churning swirl of knives and guns

Bloodcurdled words that batter hearts

In a paste of shackled hope

I erased kaleidoscopes

And think in only black and white

A shadow cast by your very light

I cannot hope to be the moon

I am no sun, no monster looms

I am only flesh and blood

But a memento of crescendos yet to come

I work towards a better day

Black alabaster, white stygian flacks

Blossoming apostles philosophical

Apocalypse of doppelgangers to the avatars

Avant-garde snarling parchment archangels

Fragile figures of ventriloquists of photosynthesis

Shadowed Valkyries of eldritch melodies bellowing

The balconies eveloped in the melancholy mitochondria

Frolicking nightstalkers sunburned by burgundy eternities

Blinded by the phosphorescence of bioluminescent ascension

Stairways to heaven, elevators to hell, winding path of earth

Failures of aliases in the matrix of faded pale halos

Metamorphosis of incorporeal phantasmagorical mourning

Disowning chthonian matrimonial cornucopias source

The nothingness from whence we’re born

Before the shadow met the white

Before the battle of blacklight pale-shadowed height

As the cremation of the not

Which this something came from nothing but

The constant warfare in our hearts, the bondaged forebearers who went wrong

Who judged the midnight from the dawn

And smudged the white with grey ashen asterisks on our palms

Pitch with hieroglyphic antithesis cryptic Olympus vintage grog

The avarice of majesties vagabonds polychromatic as Abaddon’s avalanches

Dancing labyrinths of amaranthine saffron concubine

Dying on the intertwining bloodstained rainbow of guillotine’s tranquillity

Stillborn as the ornaments adorning Morningstar endorphins

Corpses of pincushion contortionists vorpal as the opal coral of aurora borealis

Callous as the malachite electrolytes of scythes cyphers ripe

Ripped into the vinyl of serpentine divines homocidal hiding behind the eyelids of a dead child

The ash crow of pandemonium phantasmagorical Rorshaches abracadabra

Pyromantic gatherings of Saturn’s tattered wings anchored stagnantly vanquished

Of sanctuary’s apothecary kerosene marionettes of porcelain corpses reborn

Scorned of reincarnating hatred, vacant hearted martyrs archangels pale horsemen

Metamorphosis of gorgeous horrors oral door hinges

Scintillating screams leather daydreams heaven’s archenemy an empty cemetery

That was actually scaring me however not much. Sounds like the song had a different effect on my mind. I like this one though, I kind of always wait for your poems and they prove themselves great. Thanks for sharing.
