BrethrenA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Fallen soldiers aren't always on the battlefield. Some are at war with themselves, hoping to find some piece of mind.Have you ever been stung by a bullet? Rung like the melancholy bells of heaven in your evanescence Vanishing insanity leaves me unwhole I’ve been stung by many bludgeoned by semis Emissary’s solarium bringing the heat to the light of my world The stingers in my dead ringer vigilant memories I cut myself on the shattered glass lives I look through in the fog Fight me and you’ll barely scratch the surface’s psalm Writing is the only thing that gives me purposeful calm Rehearsing my act so I can put on a freakshow before it’s curtains I’m gone Every syllable vilified amaryllis from the belladonna sodomy Now is a present that nobody wants to be given, opening up our hearts monogamy And selling our souls in the abyssal promiscuity I walk around minding my own business, my glasshouse captivity half full in an empty world I wear my heart on my sleeves lest he beseeches me, and walk a mile in these shoes with no soles As sandy beaches bleed I feel as broken as a puzzle piece In a jigsaw-mill where they put our pieces back together, glued in our straightjacket patricide Where the little ones ripped raw thawed under the light of dawn Upon our prayers, there is no one there Dare to cherish the barrage of solitude sauntered in the waters of a shallow hallelujah Removed from the grooves of illusional delusions bioluminescent dejected in the sepulchre Bedlam of an honourless epilogue’s renaissance I write in fonts to glue the shards back together, that once were called brethren Toys that never wanted to be played with dancing on a string Children stung by bumblebees with angelwings © 2020 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
