Voodoo ChimesA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)I stayed in an old World War One boat and sailed around for a bit this summer. I figured I should at least bless it with a poem.
Subdivision wholeheartedly refurbished by the establishment of the structure upon the stone islands sprawl on the water like stones on a path
The boat kicks up a dust that could only be vapour, and the wind is fluttering like an American flag I look upon the lake and see lush green has covered the trail of horizon I am on a rickety beast of wood, she is as feisty and fierce as a wildebeest and as fast as a slow-moving car She has the sarcasm of being sunk twice When people thought she was gone for good, she came out of the woodwork which remains fresh as a baby’s scalp on her hull, timelessness incarnate Sometimes I look upon the waters to see the reflection of the sun and sky dragging across the surface like butter on bread Sometimes the relentlessness of the spirit is such a suffering that I see my emotions looking back at me, drowned by a pride that I never fostered Sometimes I wonder if my hull will end up in the depths of the oceans, and whether I will be able to pull myself upright, steadfastly, and carry on again, and again © 2019 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
