FreelyA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Memories remainI loved you like a brother I’ll let you slumber
I’ve awakened in the vacancy This empty cemetery This carrion graveyard
They stole you from me You were so alive But so divided
The silence echoes manufactured catastrophe I listen to the static blasphemy I cry on the inside
But I never break out of my shell This strength is a prison I can’t show weakness or love
I’m shackled to this avalanche of pain This sorrow, diabolical I marvel at what I have And what is gone
I’m sorry for my weakness I’m sorry for my pity I’m sorry for being too strong to save a weakling Or too weak to save the strong
I’m sorry all I can do is keep speaking The best I can do is stop it from happening again The death
Too late for you, But not for me Maybe bleeding will weave the wilted flowers
Into wreaths in the secrecy I’ve hidden my love I’m not above your strength
For being weak enough to die for what you believe in I can only hope I go out like you Not a fake symbol of strength
But your equal Human enough to live the way you would And die for what I believe in
And cross the divide to see you Freely Where the memories remain Mangled chains Rusting in the rain © 2019 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
