Behind the Book's Cover

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

A newer poem, since I'll be sharing many older ones soon, figured I'd mix it up.

"

Wrinkle lines on the book’s spine

Read between the words

You don’t know my struggle, you don’t know my pain

You see, if you assume things you’ll never know the truth

Just lose another piece of your humanity

In the falling rain

That paints the picture

Of your hatred’s mixture

A harbinger’s agenda will not my bend my ways

A blind eyes’ lie will not change my gaze

Rhinestones survive even if they don’t gleam lucid dreams like a diamond

I’m more than just my flesh, I am a human being

I will state, illuminate and illustrate my own hatred, mix my own colours, float my own boats rudders, and fluttering mainsail feathers that tether together like a courier bird, unveiled and discover my own brotherhoods, set sail for paradise, and orange my violet sunsets revenants on the canvas expanse of my ocean devotion of a world unfurled in the storm of a communal strudel of biblical funeral citadels umbilical symbolizing civilizations society on the high mighty seas of green treed weeds and submarine breezes dynasties financing symmetrical spectacles of receptacle romantic expedited in the bright whites of typhoon monsoon muse of afternoons views that your stomach’s mind consumes full of beauty looming over the clovers smorgasbord of a canapé of dreams undamaged ravenous obscene badlands salvation casted on glass passion pastry avian restrained avalanche vaccination prancing delicate phrasing elation scattered on my gravel enamel canvas

I will leave you to your numerable inferior scribbles

Author's Note

R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.

this is such an illuminescent piece, glowing and radiating good vibes and informing others about assumptions and judgement... such a powerful work of art, [write] right on!!!

I really like the first part, towards the end of the second part it was feeling like you were struggling and just kind of putting whatever fit, the third one started out strong but started to feel the same as the second near the end as well.

our lives like a book, never know what you`ll find till you open to look inside
we are many colors and never to be labeled on lifes up`s and downs

wow. we certainly shouldn't judge a book by its cover. you've got so much going on in this. powerful and poignant rapid fire. good stuff with nuggets of truth to be digested ... :)
