The Corpse We've BecomeA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)A shorter poem. Not a particularly good one because I haven't been feeling to well lately, but a poem's a poem. Even if it is mediocre.Blue skies pass as I’m wondering why the clouds fly by faster than the b******s that drive on the highway Writing words my way, keeping the pain at bay, staying sharp as a blade, no treasonous reason to hesitate Going straight past frozen lakes and the words of fate, I have no promises no provisions for the incisions on the grey world god made Not afraid to stay out of the shade not living in a daze, sharing words sure but this isn’t just another phrase Blaze past the ashes of our forefathers’ deserted desert graves that leave gashes on the pastures your heart Whether the pain started beating harder than the bothered martyrs who’s lashes on the backs of our family pack attack hack and slash at my cracking armour Forcing us to behave like monsters hearts growing harder and feeling the disheartened trauma Vomiting karma farther in the direction of fate, a dissection of a perfect affection, a section of a selection of redemption, but never mentioning the stinging ringing in the upbringing stringing together a world better without your presence A recollection of hate stated greater than the blood that dries later hot and festering rotten forgotten on the sands of the equator The earth is giving birth to dirt from our families calamities and hurt emerging learning to bare the stern burning of the sun and our tears turning us into a person yearning for a break but not broken Fearing what’s at stake and the words that have never been spoken Tokenless open thoughts from the ones who got shot to death in this spot of cauterized eyes crying Lying dying in the ground monetizing the world for a pound, a dollar, a squalor for a hollow hollering follower of god’s that don’t accept a refund Stunned to realize the gun pointed at everyone decides right from wrong And before long humanity’s empathy will be gone Drained like the blood from the body rotting, the corpse we’ve become © 2018 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
