Soft LandingA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Just a poem I wrote that had some inner meaningSoft Landing Do you know how pain feels, how minds heal, but you still feel insane because of the scars? Do you know what it means to be innocent but behind bars? Do you know blame, knowing you’ve got this far but you’re going to be pulled back into the hell hole from whence you came? Do you know how it feels, when every meal depletes you of life, and your cries aren’t real? Keep your eyes peeled and lips sealed because people keel over and no helps them, only doubts them, like we’re not even human Do you? Because I don’t think I know Your anger is looming over me, but I’m confused I feel nothing and know nothing, I’ve been used because I wasn’t bluffing when I said I had no part in this you started this Acting like I’m not a real person, rehearsing this like we aren’t equals and never were But I never heard why Like your better You're getting what you want now wherever whenever December’s past but not but ash can stoke your burning fires of hate, I’m a part of the past the future you create Meanwhile, it seems my fate is to watch them all go out to the last breath The heart of a people finally knows death And I don’t know what this’s about but you can’t scream and shout when you're dead, so why am I listening, full of doubt in myself? I’m fed up with your lies, and can’t keep in my insides because when arms opened wide you thought it fine to break them And when I awake again I’ll know that reality is colder than this snow and the bodies are dust and I’m choking on the ashes of a memory People are lashing out, most of us never knew what this is about or even mouthed off I’m lost, I felt like I was part of a library, just another book on the shelf but you burned that knowledge Even though we don’t have the health to see eye to eye I despise a lie giving a reason for believing in leaving them bleeding No one knows why I’m confused but I don’t see a reason to face up Because there are ears everywhere but all I ever hear is how wrong we are How unjust, and if gives you a reason to let us rust then fine But the spine of all those books have meaning, and stood up on their feet even if we were just on our last legs and were just raw meat we need to make you remember Hand down your hate but it will create its own end Eventually, we all bend to time and rhyme a different way there will be a better day Because I believe in equality And I can only hope our fall will be a soft landing © 2018 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
