Clover

It’s not a bad day to start over, clover

Leave your roots and chase the sun

Travel far and run across the stars, just for fun

Travel sand and soil, water and oil

Wrapping foil keeping you warm in the winter when nobody loves you

And when your splinters scorn the ones that stepped on you

Take a breath of blue sky and remember that every seed born will wither and die

But try your hardest to strive to stay alive and only cry tears of strength

Wonder why you couldn’t have grown sooner

Leave Home, your biome, whether it be forest or cobblestone

Leave sanctuary for the unknown

Greive for the others and find a throne among the skyscrapers or the trees

The drones, the bullets, the birds and the bees

Spread your weeds and be noticed by the ones who made you, freed you of your sanity

Test humanity in all their vanity and selfish ignorance, their inability to accept you

You don’t look like them

You don’t talk like them

You aren’t human, that’s what they said right Clover?

You're a blight that didn’t have the common sense or sight to see you aren’t wanted

They flaunted their might and crushed you on the sidewalk

They call you clover, left home at 15, a rhyme with no verse, a corpse in a herse

A curse never gifted, gaze never shifted, from hopelessness never lifted

Unlucky, raising your three green leaves that couldn’t believe in unity because they broke your family, your roots are dead

And now you find a throne in a new home because you're all alone

Only sand and stone, no soil or water, parched fodder

The lottery couldn’t save you from hell they say

But only cruel people go there

It isn’t fair, flowers are pretty, but in the end, they don’t even care

Bathing in the sun like their better than everyone, while you run around trying to be noticed by people who call you a weed

Cut your leaves in the night, and cry while you bleed

Wish you could become a seed all over again and win against the cruel man in your fairy tale you failed to trail, which locked you in a jail of regrets

Become someone’s pet but can’t even scream because of Tourette’s

Escape the forest of buildings or trees and fly in the sky wondering why you did buy the lie those people sold you

Why you let them mould you and shape you

Hold you and rape you

They told you their great, and their place was somewhere to escape too

But you're going to create a real new home

A place where there’s no hate

Swing harder and push farther

Charter and barter for a better life, plant yourself down in a new house, new roots, new trees, new shoots

Because it’s not a bad day to start over, is it, Clover?

Author's Note

R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.
