A Hope In HellA Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)A quick poem about the fragility of individual humans, and the will not to give in.A Hope in Hell
Pouring rain, I’m insane, metal brain, bound in human chains Tenacity is my cane as I stagger onwards Braggarts aren’t honest, so I can’t walk away, they laugh and say break a leg Staining the ground my colour in a stupor, bodies soar, please, no more Pushing petals, smushing devils but hell has no end Experiencing the same thing all over again I remember when I had a friend, a life, a hope, a slice, once was light a kite Now I don’t feel so bright A slight anger keeps me going, stumbling towards redemption, showing me that stowing these memories away has a purpose I remember being made part of that circus, where they broke my legs, a service that these lips don’t speak freely I seek unity, not frailty, but that isn’t a tune for me to hum I’m weak like my tea, strum my heart and it won’t make a sound because I lost my beat I have a kettle full of problems I can’t settle, Want a taste? Can’t defend myself from being erased because I don’t have a way to face adversity Cursed to be reminded of how you beat me every time you treat me The nurse said have seat please but I don’t want to eat these pills anymore That’s what I know hopelessness is for, and I haven’t given up yet © 2018 R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)Author's Note
